SDM focusing technology
The SDM system incorporated into this lens results in a smoother, quieter autofocusing operation using a built-in supersonic motor. This wide-angle to normal zoom incorporates the new Pentax KAF3 mount, which uses SDM focusing technology but has no mechanical focusing shaft.
